Explore & visualize probability distributions via sliders and easily find probabilities and percentiles (two-tailed, upper tail or lower tail).
This app is great for finding and visualizing critical values needed in the construction of confidence intervals, for computing P-values associated with a given test statistic, or for just understanding what the parameters of a distribution mean.
The app is also great in exploring & visualizing discrete probability distributions such as the Binomial.
Developed for both students and teachers as a handy tool to explore & visualize distributions and their properties interactively and while teaching. The app works in offline mode. No internet connection is necessary.
Distributions implemented so far:
- Normal
- Student's t
- Chi-Squared
- F
- Binomial
- Geometric
- Poisson
For each distribution, an Explore tab lets you explore the distribution via sliders and you can see how its shape depends on the parameter(s).
On the Find Probability tab, you set the parameters of the distribution (such as providing the mean and standard deviation, the degrees of freedom or the success probability) and the graph of the distribution is drawn. You select a value for x and the type of probability you want to find, such as "Lower Tail: P(X ≤ x)." The resulting probability is provided both visually and numerically.
On the Find Percentile tab, you provide the desired percent in the lower or upper tail (or in both tails), and the app computes (and visualizes) the corresponding percentile.
