The worst things are those that are newly invented; every newly-invented thing is an innovation and every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire.

Allah سبحانه وتعالى‎ says in the Quran about the purpose of creation (s.51, v.56) : "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.". So to fulfill this noble purpose we must worship Him alone, it means that acts of worship to Allah سبحانه وتعالى alone can bring us near Him.
