Weather forecast and expert observations massive Sancy and chain of Puys.
The Météovergne application is updated by an independent and passionate Auvergne weather forecaster whose company is located in Laqueuille (63). It differs from the vast majority of weather applications by the human engagement it represents with updates 365 days a year (expert forecasts). The forecaster is also keen to carry out fieldwork, to support forecasts and observations, after appraising digital models for forecasting. In June 2020, this application had 1,300 subscribers, the majority of whom were loyal since its launch in 2017.
The purpose of this tool is to keep you informed of current and future weather conditions in the Sancy massif & the Puys range. Other sectors will be offered in the future. This application is intended for a very large audience, whether you are a diligent practitioner of the mountain, an occasional hiker, a farmer, a professional whose activity depends on the weather, or even a curious sensitive to changes in weather. The objective is also, through forecasts and observations, to promote knowledge and understanding of the complex meteorological phenomena at work in our massifs.
>>> You will need identifiers to access it and to support this local microenterprise: www.meteovergne.com/application.
Here is the content you will benefit from:
- a daily expert bulletin (48 hours and trends)
- a follow-up of the day which details the latest observations and live developments of the massifs
- notifications several times a day to warn you of current and future conditions
- seasonal bulletins:
+ CUMULORING (summer): aerological evolutions, behavior of convection, forecast of thunderstorms and accumulated precipitation.
+ NIVO-METEO (winter): evolution of snow cover in the Sancy massif with regard to weather conditions.
- a trends bulletin: the possible scenario (s) beyond D + 2
- exclusive Météovergne webcams (12 devices in June 2020)
- observations from Météovergne weather stations and partners
And also: live lightning strikes, special notices of cases of particular phenomena, weather news ... as well as new services in projects!
Météovergne thus offers expert weather forecasts, which have been absent for our mountains for a few years with the abandonment by Météo-France. A referent and available forecaster will keep you informed of the expected conditions and developments. It is this added value that differentiates this weather application from others, which are automated.
The weather forecast is abundant on the Internet and via “default” smartphone applications. But you should know that almost all of these forecasts are automated, that is to say that they come from models without human expertise. We are thus left with forecasts that could have been correct if they had been appraised, which is frustrating, both for the “weather-sensitive” and forecasters (deterioration of the image of the weather forecast and of the profession ).
An expert forecast thus involves applying the knowledge and know-how of the forecaster, and in particular his knowledge of the terrain. In the Sancy massif and the Puys range, the differences between the slopes and the altitudes are often remarkable (temperature inversions, strong wind on the ridges, very localized but abundant precipitation, foehn effect, etc.).
This application also makes it possible to distinguish precision and reliability: you will not find an hourly forecast by municipality. It would then be an automated forecast which would add no additional value to what is already available on the Internet. The search for precision is a decoy if reliability is poor. Météovergne is there to express the reliability of a forecast.
